Director of Photography
A native of Northern California, Stefan Mentil started shooting and editing Super 8mm home movies as a boy. During High School he gained valuable hands-on experience working for a San Francisco production company shooting car and travel commercials. While attending San Diego State’s TV/Film/New Media program, Stefan decided he wanted to become a Director of Photography and went on to earn two Student Emmys in that capacity.
After receiving his degree, Stefan joined the Local 600 Camera Union and worked as a camera assistant on a number of TV shows. Eventually he worked his way up to DP on an independent film,The Reality of Bob Burnquist. Since then Stefan has shot a host of commercials for clients such as Mercedes Benz and music videos for bands such as Pearl Jam.
In addition, he has worked as Director of Photographer and Cameraman on numerous TV shows and feature films including John From Cincinnati, Fashion House, Desire, Wishing for Yesterday, Begleiter, CMT Small Town Secrets, Fruitcake, Come Home Alive, Stash, Return of the Pirates, and Unspoken.
