Laura Parker began her writing and editing career on the development side of the film industry in New York City. As the Development Executive for Oscar-winner, Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia), Laura developed a slate of projects written by some of Hollywood’s A-List screenwriters, including Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation), Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men), Richard Friedenberg (A River Runs Through It), and Tony Kushner (Angels in America), among many others.
She has since traded in screenplays for SEO, writing for the popular jewelry website, Jewelry.com as their news writer, copyeditor, blogger and social network guru in addition to writing SEO-friendly web content for a variety of other industries – from fine jewelry to garage doors. While she will always consider herself a New Yorker, Laura now spends her days happily married to her smokejumper husband living the ‘quiet life’ in Northern California.
